To make the long story short one could say that MS Access (as a database) is used to collect, store and organize the data. Excel on the other hand is meant for representing data in various ways. But there is so much more in the background, when we talk about Microsoft Access itself. If we look at it as a tool to produce desktop databases, than compared to MS Excel the most obvious advantage of MS Access is the possibility of organizing data in relational model. To make it short - MS Access allows to enter the single line of data once and reuse it many times without the need to reenter it again.
