Te besede naj bi izrekel kongresnik Thaddeus Stevens v dialogu s predsednikom Abraham Lincolnom, vsaj glede na film Lincoln iz (2012). Scena začne teči nekje okoli 54/55. minute. Ko sem jih slišal, sem se vprašal, zakaj bi jih tako priznan režiser kot je Steven Spielberg, scenarist Tony Kushner in pisateljica Doris Kearns Goodwin uporabili v filmu, ki vsebuje še druge znane stavke in reke. Zakaj pogovor tečev nekakšem kletnem in temnem prostoru? Nikjer nisem našel neposrednih pojasnil omenjenih treh avtorjev in ne morem trditi kakšni so bili njihovi nameni ampak, bodisi svarilo, bodisi kot dejstvo, ki ga bomo pač morali sprejeti, mi je to najscena filma.
